Cathex is an interactive VR experience that unfolds like a virtual poem, guiding participants on a journey of emotional transformation and self-discovery. Rooted in the philosophies of Mary Whiton Calkins, particularly the Universe as the Absolute Self, the experience immerses participants in a womb-like, subconscious digital landscape. As they navigate through various emotional states, they explore the theory of cathexis—the emotional and psychological energies we invest in people, ideas, and experiences. Through emotion-regulatory movements within the VR environment, participants actively shape the unfolding storyline, becoming catalysts for their own narrative. As the journey progresses, they gradually uncover long-forgotten memories about their existence and the universe.
